BARBARA COLLIER HARRIS
Barbara Collier Harris, 70, of Charlottesville, went to be with the Lord on
Thursday, January 11, 2007, at her home. She was born on March 8, 1936, in
Greene County, a daughter of the late George Collier and Blanche Collier Morris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred
Jackson Harris; two brothers, Calvin Morris and John Collier; and one sister,
Lucille Conley. Barbara is survived by her stepfather, John Morris; three
daughters, Carolyn Brown and her husband, Tony, Hilda Harris and her friend,
Nikki, Nancy Collier and her husband, Bud; one son, Winfred Collier Jr. and his
wife, Betty; six sisters, Gail Shifflett, Tessie Conley, Bernice Crawford, Mary
Morris, Edith Morris, and Maxine Shifflett; two brothers, Glenn Morris and Leroy
Morris; a sister-in-law, Hazel Collier; a special niece, Linda Collier and Eddie
Siler; 13 grandchildren including three special grandchildren, Stephanie Little
and her friend, Roger, Jeannie Thacker and her fiancé, Robert Cochran, and
Anthony Thacker and his wife, Tiffany; nine great- grandchildren; and numerous
other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9
p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007, at the Ryan Funeral Home. A funeral service will
be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at the Ryan Funeral Home with the
Reverend Greg Lohr officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The
family would like to say a special thank you to the Hospice of the Piedmont and
especially Hospice Nurse, Nancy Campbell. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to Ryan Funeral Home, P.O. Box 274, Ruckersville, VA

BENJAMIN HARRIS
ELKTON – Benjamin Harris, 56, of Madison County, died Wednesday at University of
Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville after a brief illness. He was born April
11, 1904, in Rockingham County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie
Shifflett Harris; three sons, Charles Harris and Elwood Harris, both of Madison
County, and J. R. Harris of Manassas; a daughter, Mrs. Oliver Shifflett of
Elkton; three brothers, Clarence Harris of Chambersburg, Pa., James Harris and
John Harris, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Mrs. Hettie Davis of Elkton; and 11
grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow at No. 2
Furnace Methodist Church near Elkton. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery at
Elkton.

FLOYD T. HARRIS
Floyd "Bucky" Harris, age 80 died at Humana Hospital,Dodge City, KS. Born to
Levin L and Josephine Shiflett Harris at Chula, Mo, he grew up and attended
school there,moving to Dodge City in 1924. He married Rose Ackley on Oct. 9,1926
at Dodge City living here til !943 moving to Kinsley. They returned to Doge City
in 1958 where they lived until death. He was in the poultry business since
coming to Dodge city in 1924. He was an organizer of the Boys Ranch, now known
at Methodist Youthville and he had been manager of the Ban Johnson Baseball team
in Dodge City for many years. He is survived by his wife, Rose; three sons,
Phil, Dick and Dave all of Dodge City, 11 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.

GARY GENE HARRISON
Gary Gene Harrison, 47, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, in
City Hospital, Martinsburg. Mr. Harrison was born May 4, 1954, in Martinsburg,
the son of Statton and Edna Shifflett Harrison. He was a nursing assistant and a
Navy veteran. Surviving are four sisters, Marie Starliper of Romney, W.Va.,
Freda Wolford of Rio, W.Va., Edith Shingleton of Craig, Colo., and Norma Lee
Smith of Mt. Storm, W.Va.; two brothers, Freddy Harrison of Moorefield, W.Va.,
and Roy Harrison of Rio. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Tearcoat Church
of the Brethren, Augusta, W.Va., with Pastor Ken Dolan officiating. Burial will
be private. McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, is handling arrangements.

GILBERT T. HARRIS
MARTIN, W.
Va. - Gilbert T. Harris, 62, died suddenly yesterday at his farm in Martin. Born
July 8, 1908 in Grant County, he was the son of the late Taylor U. and Anna R.
(Rotruck) Harris. He was a member of Knobly Church of the Brethren, Antioch.
Surviving are his wife, Betty G. Harris; two sons, Paul N. Harris, Strasburg,
Va., and Gary W. Harris, Antioch; a brother, Floyd A. Harris Antioch, and one
grandchild. The body is at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, where friends
will be received after 7 p.m. today.
Note: Died 21 Jan 1971. He was
married to Betty G. Shifflett.

HERBIE LEE HARRIS
Herbie
Lee Harris, 63 died at Trinity Hospital after a short illness. Born in Chula,
Mo, he married Neva Alice Baker on April 18, 1945 in Ogden,Utah. He was an
employee of the Gas Service co at Dodge City moving there in 1927. He was a
World War II veteran. Survivors are wife, Alice and son,Terry of Abilene, Tx;
brothers Vernon of Independence, Mo and Floyd (Bucky) and sister, Ila Taylor
both of Dodge City, KS.

JAMES ARTHUR HARRIS
James Arthur Harris was born in Clay County, Ill., Sept. 28, 1880. He was the
son of John and Ermina Harris and died at his home in Exeter from a heart
attack, Oct.31, 1945, at the age of 65 years, one month and three days. He was
united in marriage to Mary Wiles, Dec. 9. 1903. To this union twin sons were
born, Fred and Ed. Fred precede his father in death, July 17, 1931. He is
survived by his wife, one son Ed, of Joplin, a sister, Mrs. Cora Pallette of Ft.
worth, Texas, two brothers Will Harris of Austin, Texas and Clyde Harris of
Jefferson, Texas, and a host of neighbor and friends. He was converted in early
life and united with the Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at the
Exeter Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, Nov 4, by the Rev. Arnold Long,
assisted by the Rev. Chas. VanZandt, Burial in Maplewood Cemetery at Exeter with
Koon Funeral Service in charge.

LEWIS VERNON HARRIS
Mr. Lewis Vernon Harris, age 74, of
1217 W, 36th Independence died at his home Friday. He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Nettie J. Harris of the home. Three daughters, Mrs. Joseph W. Jones, 5136
S. Spring; Mrs John R. Watt, Indianapolis, Indiana; Mrs. Hugh Copeland,
Waterloo, Iowa. A brother, Floyd Harris, a sister, Mrs. Ila Taylor, both of
Dodge City, Kansas. Twelve grandchildren. Funeral services were held 2 p.m.
today at the First United Presbyterian Church. Burial in Mt. Washington
Cemetery.

MAREE HERRING HARRIS
Maree Herring Harris, 87, of Charlottesville died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at
her home. Born October 29, 1919, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of
the late John Abbott and Laura Elma Marshall Purvis, and was the wife of the
late Charles Foster Harris. She was also preceded in death by three brothers,
Ashton John Herring, Percy Carrington Herring and Clarence Wilington Herring and
a half-sister, Mattie Lee Groneman. Mrs. Harris was a member of Southside
Christian Church. Over the course of 35 years, she touched the lives of
countless young women as a tireless Girl Scout troop and day camp leader,
earning her the affectionate nickname of "Grandma Nature". She is survived by
three daughters, Barbara LaRue Snead, Sharon H. Siler and Annie H.
Crickenberger; seven grandchildren, Gracie Robertson, Rosa Burnette, Etta
Dunbar, Sharolyn Hockey, Laurie Smith, Eva Shannon and Rachel Dunn; 11
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A graveside service will be
conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Holly Memorial Gardens, with Mr.
David Vaughan and Mr. Joe Brummett officiating. The family will receive friends
from 7 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at the Teague Funeral Home. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations to the giver's favorite charity.

MARY WALTON HARRIS
Mabel Walton Harris, 91, of Charlottesville, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, in
the Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born Aug. 28, 1913, in Albemarle County,
she was the daughter of the late Edward Boyd Walton and Lucy Pearl Lamb Walton.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jeffries Harris; a sister, Edithe
W. Shifflett; and a brother, Cecil Edward Walton. Mrs. Harris was a member of
the Cherry Avenue Christian Church. She is survived by two nieces, Phyllis
Walton and Sandra Jo Shifflett, both of Baltimore, Md.; three nephews, Larry S.
Shifflett and his wife, Grace, of Ivy, Linwood Kenneth Shifflett Jr. of Greene
County and Cecil Edward Walton Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; and by a number of
great-nieces and great-nephews. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at
11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, with Mr. Stan Martin officiating. The family
will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Hill & Wood
Funeral Home.

NOAH ASHBY HARRIS
STAUNTON - Noah Ashby Harris, 66, of Staunton, died Wednesday morning at King's
Daughters' Hospital where he had been a patient since March 4. Mr. Harris was
born July 12, 1906 in Albemarle County and was a son of the late Joseph and Rose
Shifflett Harris. Before his retirement, he was an employee of the Virginia
Highway Department. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Katir Bryson of
Falls Church; five grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Frances Harris of Staunton.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Hamrick Funeral
Home in Staunton by the Rev. Bruce Pfeiffer. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah United
Methodist Church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will
receive friends 7 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home

ORPHA JOSEPHINE HARRIS
Orpha Josephine Harris, 75, of Elkton, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at
Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Harris was born Nov. 16,
1931, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Charles Alfred and
Renia Ann Eppard Davis. She was a coil winder at the Genie Company in Shenandoah
before retiring in 1997. Her husband, Charles Robert Harris, preceded her in
death. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda King of Elkton; a brother, L.L.
"Tuck" Davis of Elkton; two sisters, Bessie Lam and her twin, Orva Taylor, both
of Elkton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Rev. L.J. "Dickie"
Campbell conducted the funeral Tuesday at Lily of the Valley Church in
Shenandoah. Burial followed at Elk Run Cemetery. The family received friends at
the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Memorial donations may be made to the American

Raymond Clarence "Buddy"
Harris, 77 of Grottoes, passed away August 11, 2013 at his home after a
courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Harris was born September 23, 1935 in
Albemarle County, and was the son of the late Roy Frank and Virginia Myers
Harris. He served our country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964, and
was baptized and attended the Grottoes Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter,
enjoyed baseball and football, especially the Redskins. He retired from
Drumhellers Exxon in Waynesboro. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Alice
Garrison Harris; children, Sue Snider (Doug), New Hope, Timothy Harris (Sherry),
Grottoes, Theresa Harris & companion, Steve Breeden, Stuarts Draft, Cheryl
Harris (Eddie), Grottoes; step-children, Eddie Garrison, Lake Wales, Fla.,
Charles Garrison (JoAnn), Port Republic, Gordon Garrison (Jennifer), Grottoes,
Donald Garrison (Karen), Port Republic; step-daughters, Doris Trimble (Barry),
Grottoes, Connie Thompson (Eric), Crimora; 19 grandchildren; 23
great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was
preceded in death by a son, Philip Harris; a brother, Bennie Harris, a sister,
Tillie Heishman. The Rev. Homer Frazier and Rev. Ronald Spencer will conduct the
funeral service 11:00 am Thursday August 15, 2013 at the Kyger Funeral Home in
Elkton. Burial will follow in the Port Republic Cemetery. The family will

ROBERT E. HARRIS
Robert E. Harris, 54, of West Hanover Twp., passed away Saturday, September 6,
2008 at his home. He is now at rest in a better place. Born in Harrisburg, he
was the son of William F. Harris Sr., with whom he lived and the late Almeda
(Via) Harris. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his father, he is
survived by four brothers, William F. Sr., Glenn, Wesley and Warren; a sister
Almeda J. Arnold and her son Jason, who he thought of as a son, and many other
nieces and nephews. Interment services will be held Thursday, September 11 at
10:00AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Rev. Michael D. Martin will
officiate.

Rose M. Harris, 92 died at Trinity Manor Nursing Home,Dodge City, KS.
Born to Joseph and Laura (Gordon) Ackley, she married Bucky Harris on Oct. 9,
1926 in Dodge City. She moved to Cimarron as a child and attended Cimarron
Schools. She later lived in Dalhart,Texas and then Dodge City. She and Bucky and
their sons owned and operated Harris and Sons Hatchery and Egg Business in
Kinsley and Dodge City. Survivors are three sons, Phillip and David both of
Dodge City and Richard, Moscow; one sister, Gladys James of Dodge City; 11
grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

William F. Harris Sr., 87 of West Hanover Twp. passed away Thursday, September
19, 2013 at the Spring Creek Rehab. Center in Harrisburg, He was born in
Harrisburg, PA, son of the late George W. Harris and Pearl Brownewell and was
the widower of Almeda J. (Via) Harris. William retired as a plant operator for
Pennsy Supply and was an Army Veteran of WWII. Surviving are, sons, William F.
Jr., Glenn, Warren and Wesley Harris; a daughter Almeda Arnold and 7
grandchildren. Interment Services with military honors will be held Friday
October 4, 2013, at 10:30 am in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Rev.
Michael Martin will officiate.

WILLIAM JACK HARRIS
William J. "Jack" Harris, 82 died Thursday, February 12, 2004, at York Hospital.
He was the husband of Alverta L. (Topper) Harris. The couple celebrated their
61st wedding anniversary October 10, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 10
a.m. Monday at the Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road,
York. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev.
Richard Stambaugh. A viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Mr.
Harris was born in Albemarle, Va., September 4, 1921. He was the son of the late
Tracey Chapman and Bertha Lee (Blackwell) Harris. He retired from the former
Harding and Koppers Inc. after 31 years and them worked for Weis Markets at
Northgate for 12 years. He attended the York Gospel Center and was a member of
the Liberty Club in York. He is survived by a son, Brian Harris of York; five
daughters, Lona Mathison of Thomasville, and Sheila Ruppert, Linda Terrasi,
Krystal Brenneman and Melody Davis, all of York; 25 grandchildren; 43
great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgranddaughter. He was preceded in death by
three sons, Ronald Harris, Jackson Harris and William D, Harris; two brothers;
and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County Nursing
Home, 118 Pleasant Acres Road, York, PA 17402. Published in the York Daily
