ARLENE G. HERRING WALTON
Arlene G. Herring
Walton, 87 of Lexington Park, MD died on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Born on June
13, 1935, in Virginia, she was the daughter of McKenney Herring and Lily Morris
Herring. Arlene G. Herring Walton passed away unexpectedly on the morning of
January 5, 2023. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
friend. Arlene was a busy lady who loved being around people, helping those in
need, gardening to her hearts content, spending time with family, and caring for
other as well as animals. She was a hardworking woman who can be described as
one tough Gal. Those that know her will remember tales of the country from when
she grew up and lived on the family farm in Crozet, Virginia, hearing Bless
their heart, go on, "it has no calories", oh fudge, and I recon. She was caring
and kind with a big heart! She would give away everything and anything she had
to those who were in need whether it be a family member or a complete stranger.
Arlene made the best of every situation and has touched so many lives over the
years. While she is terribly missed God has gained another angel who will watch
over others and help in any way she can. She will be an asset for sure, as we
know the almighty has a plan for her even if it is not clear to us. She is now
united with her late husband Dempsey Walton, her oldest grandson Jay (JR), best
friend Betty as well as her parents and siblings in heaven. They have been
waiting so we know they were to embrace her with open arms. Arlene is now
watching over her children Dempsey Herring Sr., James Herring, and Linda Newsome
of Southern Maryland as well as her oldest child Deborah Herring of Virginia who
she is survived by. She was the grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren and she adored all of them. All of her family and friends that she
has left behind all miss her terribly. Interment will be held Monday, May 1,
2023 at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Arrangements provided by Johnsons

The Daily
Progress, Charlottesville, VA, Fri, Aug. 31, 2018
Sylvester Lawrence "Trae" Herring III, 40, of Staunton, passed away on Tuesday,
August 28, 2018, at the Shenandoah Hospice House. Born on April 3, 1978, in
Charlottesville, he was the husband of Krissy Smith Herring and the son of
Sylvester Lawrence Herring Jr. and Carolyn Powell Herring. Trae was a unique,
creative and quick witted person who was beloved by all and knew no stranger. He
prided himself on passion and love. As a dedicated husband, son, friend and
co-worker, Trae found within his spirit to keep every aspect of his life filled
with meaning, excitement, adventure and happiness. His passion and love was the
driving force behind his success and happiness. He was sincere in all aspects of
his life and was just as committed to his family as his sports teams, love of
video games, Batman, Dad jokes, The Christmas Story, work and antiques. Trae's
passion can be described best by Nelson Mandela's famous quote, "There is no
passion to be found playing small in settling for a life that is less than the
one you are capable of living." Even during his time of illness, there was a
dedication to fight. He never gave up, made excuses, or stopped doing what he
loved. There are many valuable lessons he unknowingly taught people about life
and living it to the fullest extent. There is not a day that will go by where
someone won't feel his presence, be reminded of a funny one liner, or putting
passion and love above all. He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandfather, Sylvester Lawrence Herring Sr. In addition to his wife and parents,
Trae is survived by his maternal grandmother, Jean Wiebel; paternal grandmother,
Gladys Herring; those who he considered his brothers and sisters, Maurice
Walker, Ken Sosnowski, David Goverman, Wes Reaves, Tanner and Erin Boyle and
Shannon Walsh; nieces and nephews, Mason Wyatt, Cameron, Natalie and Spencer
Boyle and Marley Dorman; mother-in-law, Pam Sullivan and husband, George Cronk;
father-in-law, Scott Smith; as well as a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 2,
2018, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main
St., Waynesboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September
3, 2018, at the funeral home with Dave Norris officiating. Cremation will take
place following the services at the funeral home. Those desiring may make
