ALBERTA SHIFFLETT HUNT
MRS. C. C. HUNT
STANARDSVILLE - Mrs. Alberta Shifflett Hunt, 74, died Saturday in a Charlottesville hospital. She was born Nov. 2, 1894, in Greene County, daughter of the late Burrus and Carrie Shifflett. She was the widow of C. C. Hunt. She was a member of the First Bible Baptist Church. Surviving are five sons, William E. Shifflett and Delwood W. Shifflett of Stanardsville and Ernest D. Shifflett, Herman P. Shifflett and Dallas A. Hunt of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter Mrs. Carrie Sacre of Charlottesville; a brother, Will P. Shifflett of Dyke; two sisters, Mrs. Cletus Glascow of Culpeper and Mrs. Lydia Smith of Philadelphia, Pa., and 10 grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the First Bible Baptist Church near Ruckersville, with burial in the Stanardsville Cemetery. Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ARAH E. SHIFLET HUNT
Services for Arah Hunt, 90, of Chandler are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Henderson County with Bob Logan and Ron Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Hunt died Sept. 19, 2000, in Tyler. She was born March 30, 1910, in Brownsboro. Mrs. Hunt attended schools in Henderson County, where she lived almost all of her life. She was a homemaker and a retired nurse. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.O. Hunt; parents, James and Martha Shiflet; grandson, Mike Hunt; daughter, Helen Hunt McRoy; and brothers, John Henry Shiflet and Matt E. Davis. Survivors include son, James Hunt of Chandler; daughters, Edith Browning of Houston and Merita Shacklett of Chandler; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Wendell Browning, Troy Browning, Allen Cooper, James Cooper, Greg Hunt, Marcus Shacklett and Travis Shacklett. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

FRANCES L. HUNT
Frances L. Hunt, 68, of Palmyra died Wednesday September 12, 2007, at a local health care facility. Born in Nelson County, on November 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Powell Harris. She was also preceded in death by her son in law, Anthony Thacker. Mrs. Hunt was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church at Covesville and was retired from the Dietary Department at the University of Virginia. She loved everyone but being a mother and grandmother brought her the greatest joy. She loved cooking and playing cards for fun. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 52 years, Leslie H. Hunt; two daughters, Robin Wood and her husband, Jerry, and Sarah Thacker; two sons, Les Hunt and his wife, Diane, George Hunt and his wife, Dee; four sisters, Margaret Gibson, Betty Fields, Nadine Tornatore, and Brenda Shifflett; three brothers, Jerry Harris, David Harris, and Jeff Harris; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and Wyatt Dillon whom she thought of as a grandchild. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Rudy Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Spring United Methodist Church in Faber. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday September 14, 2007, at the Teague Funeral Home. HAZEL HICKS HUNT
Hazel Hicks Hunt, 89, of Charlottesville, went to be with her Lord Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at her home. Born July 10, 1916, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Hicks and Minerva Gibson Hicks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Calvin Hunt; a son-in-law, Carroll Lamb Jr.; a sister, Ozella Norman; and three brothers, Norman Hicks, Cecil Hicks, and Herman Hicks. She is obtaining the reward for which she had strived her whole life. She devoted her life to God and her gentle spirit reflected His love. She chose to make her family her full-time career. She cherished the times in which her family was near and worked very hard to make wonderful memories for all. Surviving her are three daughters, Shirley Barnett of Charlottesville, Barbara Jones and her husband, Bernard "Bunny" Jones Jr., of Troy, and Diane Lamb of Charlottesville; four grandchildren, Renee Petsche and her husband, Steve, of Charlottesville, Scott Jones and his wife, Tammy, of Roanoke, Eric Lamb of Charlottesville, and Ashleigh Norris and her husband, Kevin, of Ruckersville; six great-grandchildren, Stephen and Jordan Petsche, Lauren, Kara, and Emily Jones and Nathan Norris; three sisters, Mabel Hicks of Fishersville, Doris Gibson of Lyndhurst, and Pat Hunt and her husband, Jack, of Fishersville; two brothers, Ollie Hicks of Louisa and Alvin Hicks and his wife, Mary Ann, of Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at First Baptist Church, Park Street with the Rev. Dr. Joel P. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Hill & Wood Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Mission's Fund, 735 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Hill & Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LINDA SHIFFLETT HUNT
Mrs. Linda Shifflett Hunt, 37, of Rt, 1, Charlottesville, died Thursday in a Charlottesville hospital. A native of Greene County, she was the daughter of Manis L. Shifflett, Sr. and Anna Shifflett Shifflett of Mission Home and the widow of William Hunt. Besides her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Miss Deborah Shifflett of Charlottesville; two sons Michael and Gary Shifflett of Charlottesville; six sisters, Mrs. Elmer Morris, Mrs. Thomas Harris and Mrs. Ruby Shifflett of Dyke, Mrs. Ernest Morris and Mrs. William Marshall of Charlottesville, and Mrs. James Shifflett of Culpeper; two brothers, Manis L. Shifflett Jr. of Dyke and James H. Shifflett of Mission Home. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from Hawkins Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Garland R. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

Noah Hunt passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006. He was born September 16, 2006. He was the son of Alex and Kandie Hunt. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Andy, Tyler, and Matthew; maternal grandparents, Henry and Patty Shifflett of Ruckersville; paternal grandparents, Thomas Sacre of Charlottesville and Lora Jernigan and her husband, Jerry, of Charlottesville; great-maternal grandmother, Bertha Fincham of Ruckersville; special uncle, P.C. Shifflett and his friend, Clara Salmon of Stanardsville; Aunt Melissa Putnam and her husband, Christopher, of Stanardsville; Godparents, Fern Sutherland and Donald Shifflett of Dyke; a number of other special great uncles; aunts; and cousins. "Dear Little One, loved so much, We wanted you to stay But God in his wisdom, took you to a better place to play, You're held by an angel 'til night takes flight, So rest little one, enjoy your play, And we shall see you again someday, Know that we love you, we are not far apart You’ll always be with us for you're in our heart.
