UNA NEWSON SHIFFLETT

Una Newsom Shifflett, 91, a retired nurse, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet
Cemetery. Visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Council of Life
Care Center of Haltom City. Una was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Weatherford. Una
worked as a nurse for Dr. John Wiggins for 35 years and was a longtime member of
Birdville Baptist Church. She was an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed water
skiing, boating and family cookouts. She was loved by all who knew her for her
kindness, thoughtfulness and joy of living. Una was a friend to all and will be
greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Shifflett, and
son, Philip Fagan. Survivors: Son, Jerry Fagan and wife, Pat of Hurst;
grandsons, Louis Fagan of Haltom City and Philip Fagan of Fort Worth;
granddaughter, Stefanie Ablao of Fontana, Calif.; great-granddaughter, Brianna
Fagan of Haltom City; nephews, Aaron Newsom and David Manning.
UPSIE LEE SHIFFLETT

Mrs. Upsie Lee Shifflett, 93, of 1009 Blenhelm Avenue, died at the Towers Sunday evening. Born in Green County Jan. 5, 1887, she was the daughter of the late Flournoy and Little Shifflett and the widow of James H. Shifflett. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Eva Knight, Mrs. Gertie Sacre both of Charlottesville, Mrs. Susie Spiller of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Doris Shifflett and Mrs. Thelma Morris both of Charlottesville; three sons, James Shifflett of Charlottesville, Raymond Shifflett of Silver Spring, Md. and Hardie Shifflett of Charlottesville; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Joseph W. Teague Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
URILLA SHIFFLETT POLLARD

Urilla "Rilla" Shifflett Pollard, 80, Dearborn in Buchanan County,
died Nov. 29, 1992, at Spellman Memorial Hospital in Smithville. Services will
be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hixson-Klein Chapel, Edgerton in Platte County;
burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Trimble, Mo. Friends may call from 6:30
to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. Mrs. Pollard was born near Brookfield, Mo.,
and moved to Dearborn in 1944. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Primitive
Baptist Church, rural Trimble, since 1946. Her husband, Samuel J. Pollard, died
in 1959. Survivors include two stepsons, Rex E. Pollard, Dearborn, and Jack
Pollard, Garden Grove, Calif.; and a stepgrandson.
