I believe that Walter was the son of of Michael Shiflett b. abt 1793 in VA and Minervy Shiflett
There is a Columbus Shiflett, age 15, born in VA listed on the 1850 Albemarle Co., VA, Census, Family 617

I went and visited the cemetery at St. Philips Episcopal Church located in Laurel, Prince George's Co., MD. I was unable to find the tombstone for Altazerah Sheflott. A very kind lady at the church had a book called "Stones and Bones" which was provided to them from the Prince George's County Genealogical Society in 1984. In this book she looked up their cemetery records and found the name of Altazerah Sheflett who died Jan. 7, 1873. The Inscription read: In her 30th year of age; Wife of Wuller C. Sheflett.

That was the only Sheflett they had a record of. The Find-A-Grave website also lists a Mary A. Sheflett who died Jan. 21, 1871. This is a mistake her last name is actually Shipley.

The cemetery is very small and not taken care of. Many tombstones are broken and knocked over. There are also maybe 15 stones that are stacked up against the church with weeds grown all around them.
