Comments: Finch Shiflet with wife Anne Taylor appears in the 1850 Rockcastle
County, KY census. He is 48, born in Tennessee, Anne, 50, born in Tennessee
also. The children shown are William 17 and Matilda 15. Oddly enough all Finch's descendants used the spelling Shiplet(t) until one of his great grandsons, Robert, went to Arizona and changed the spelling to Shipley. The family must have been in Pulaski Co., KY after the 1840 census--two daughters m. in Pulaski in 1844.
A marriage record for John and Ann has not been found.

NOTE: Finch is listed as a son of Stephen and Rachel Hicks Shiflett on their chart.
This is supposition and there is, as yet, nothing to document this connection. But see Stephen and Rachel's chart for more children credited to Finch and Ann. Eventually,
the two charts will be reconciled.
