VIRGINIA

John Gibson was a Methodist minister
George Eve was a Baptist minister in Orange Co.
George Twyman was a Baptist minister at what would become Buck Mountain Church.
George Bingham was a Methodist minister. The Bingham Methodist Church was founded in 1796. It lies north of Nortonsville right over the border in Greene Co. If your ancestor's marriage was performed by George Bingham, your ancestors may have lived in northern Albemarle County, but married in Greene.

Important Note: George Bingham and John Gibson apparently filed many of of their marriages in both Orange and Albemarle Counties. Ruth Porter sent in some Orange Co. marriages to VAGenWeb Archives and I was moving those marriages she had filed in Orange that we have listed in Albemarle. However, I came to the m. of Joseph and Melissa Shiflett. Vicky Hensley had submitted a transcription of the marriage bond that was obtained in Albemarle Co., even though George Bingham had submitted the return in Orange Co. So check both Orange and Albemarle for those early marriages. As stated earlier, Bingham Methodist Church was right on the border and Shiflets from both counties attended.
