ELKTON BLACKSMITH DEAD.
George W. Davis Succumbs, to Infirmities of Age-Funeral Sunday. Elkton, June 20, -- George W. Davis, an aged citizen of this place, who until several years ago was a widely known blacksmith, died Friday at his home from the Infirmities of age. He was over 80 years old. He leaves several grown children, among whom are H. K. Davis, of Staunton; Mrs. Whitfield and D. Davis, of Elkton. A sister, Mrs. Shifflett, resides in Keezletown. The funeral took place this afternoon at Elk Run.
George married Sarah Jane Monger. Sarah was born on 5 Jul 1834, died on 30 Jan 1893 at age 58, and was buried in Elk Run Cemetery, Elkton, Rockingham Co., VA.

Guy Sedwick Davis, Jr., 77, of Staunton passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Augusta Health surrounded by his family. Born October 31, 1935 in Staunton, he was the son of the late Susie (Harrison) and Guy Sedwick Davis, Sr. Guy attended Robert E. Lee High School and later graduated from Augusta Military Academy. He was a U.S. Veteran having served his country honorably with the Marine Corps. While serving his country he was trained as an air traffic controller and later used the skills he acquired in the military to work as an air traffic controller for both Roanoke and Lynchburg Airports. After many years of faithful service he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing poker, fishing, hunting and golfing. Survivors include his two loving daughters, Lisa Davis of Glen Allen, VA and Sandra Davis Reese and fiancé Gary Loeser of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren, Kathryn and Brian Tarnai and Yuri and Matthew Reese; sister, Jean Davis Wilkerson and husband Raymond of Swoope, VA; as well as his best friend and high school sweetheart with whom he was lucky to be reunited these last eight years, Betty Critz of Fishersville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 W. Frederick St., Staunton, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton, with Chaplin Joe McGugan officiating. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #340. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Patrick Baroco and the nursing staff at Augusta Health.
