Diary Excerpt 1909

The following excerpt is from the 1909 Diary of Thomas Ephiram Shifflet. The excerpt was transcribed by one of Thomas's grandchildren. We have not been able to track down the original diary.
"My Grate Grandfather Thomas came to America before the
Revlusion Ware to rais tobaco with others and hoo bought his wife in tobaco
and was in the ware under George Washington, don't know who my grate
grandmother was, don't know how many children was borned to this union.
There was Jacob, John Steve and Thomas my grandfather his wife being my
grandmother was Elizabeth Lamb of this union there was five boys and
four girls. Haistin, Harden, Fountain, Thomas my father and Dudley the
youngest boy. Girls Giny, Matilda, Elizabeth and Susan. Was married
in Rockenham County Virginia the home of the Shifflet family. My father
married Anny Harden in Ky. to this union their was eight children, Sally,
Polly, Cyrena, Hannah, Icy, Milly girls. Boys James O. and Thomas E.
Shifflet age 69 date 1909.
This is written and spelled just as Grandpa Shifflet spelled it.
