Absalom Shifflett from Killis Herren Deed
23 June 1855
This deed made this 23rd day of June in the year of the lord 1855 between Killis Herren and Elizabeth his wife of the county of Randolph and the State of Virginia of the one part and Absalom Shifflet of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty three dollars and 33 cents of which sum sixty-six dollars and 83 cents have been paid to the said Killis Herren and the balance payable as followeth & for which the said Shifflet has executed his bonds to said Herren thirty three dollars and 16 cents to be paid on the 15th day of September 1855, thirty three dollars and 34 cents due on the 15th of Sept. 1856, thirty three dollars and 34 cents due on the 15th day of Sept. 1857 and sixteen dollars and 66 cents due on the 15th day of Sept. 1858. The said Killis Herren and Elizabeth his wife do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Absalom Shifflet all the certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County of Randolph on the waters of the Laurel Branch a tributary of the left hand fork of Middle Fork the said tract being the west end of a tract of land bought by the said Herren and is bounded as followeth. Go west beginning at a poplar and birch on the south of the said Laurel Branch to the corner of Samuel Channels 1000 acre survey, then with his line NE 213 1/2 poles crossing a drain to a hickory stake with a sugar and 3 Lynns as pointers on the hillside facing Bear Pen Run then NW 263 poles to a maple with a chestnut. Chestnut, Oak and Gum pointers on the north side of the said Laurel Run, the SW 213 1/2 poles crossing the said Laurel Branch to a gum then SE 240 poles to the beginning containing 333 acres be the same more or less and the said Killis Herren and Elizabeth his wife do hereby covenant to and with the said Absalom Shifflet, his heirs and assigns. That they will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed.

This deed made this first day of January 1869 between Alfred Hutton and Caroline Hutton his wife Eliha Hutton, Thomas Scott & Martha Scott his wife of the County of Randolph and the state of West Virginia of the one part and Elizabeth M. Shiflett, Louisa V. Shiflett, James M. Shiflett, Polly Hutton Shiflett, Manassah Shiflett, Beauragard Shiflett and Eugene Hutton Shiflett of the second part all of the county of Randolph and state of West Virginia, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and eighty dollars, the receipt is hereby acknowledged, that the parties of the first part hath granted, bargained and sold unto the said parties of the second part the following described parcel or tract of land in the west side of Rich Mountain and bounded as followeth, beginning at two chestnuts in the Eastern extremity of the compromised line between Hutton, Howell, Scott and Shiflett in the East side of Rich Mountain South 31 1/2 W 239 1/2 to a point on the East side of Rich Mountain, N 58 1/2 W 194 poles to a Beech near a branch N 31 1/2 East 239 to a stake on compromise line. Thence with the same S 58 1/2 E 191 poles to the beginning containing 290 acres more or less. Each of the above named party's land is divided and laid off to them according to the following plat and numbers. The said parties do hereby warrant generally, the land herein described to the said parties of the second part. Given under our hands and seals, the day and year written.

James Shiflett to Absalom Shiflett
October 27, 1875
This deed made this 27th day of October 1875 by and between James Shiflett of the first part and Absalom Shiflett of the second part all of the county of Randolph and State of West Virginia: Witnesseth that for and in consideration of one hundred and thirty dollars in hand paid by the said Absalom Shiflett the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said James Shiflett hath bargained, granted and sold unto the said Absalom Shiflett heirs or assigns all his right, title and interest to and in one certain tract of land adjoining the land conveyed to Michael Shannon by S.B. Kittle on the west of the same which John Shannon retained a lien upon to secure the payment of ninety dollars due by note for one dun mare, the said lien to be paid by the said Absalom Shiflett in the above payment a general warranty is given upon the property hereby conveyed. Witnesseth the following signature and seal the day and year above written.

Eliha Hutton to Absalom Shiflett

This deed made this 28th day of October 1876 A.D. between Eliha Hutton and Sophronia his wife of the first part and Absalom Shiflett of the second part all of the county of Randolph and State of Virginia: Witnesseth, that the said Eliha Hutton and Sophronia his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars for which amount said Shiflett has this day exercised his notes to the said Hutton, one third payable 1st October 1877, one third payable 1st October 1878, one third payable 1st October 1879 do grant, bargain and sell with the general warranty unto the said Absalom Shiflett one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Randolph state of West Virginia situated between the land upon which he now resides and the east fork of the Middle Fork River and bounded as follows: beginning at chestnut on said Shiflett corner: thence S 58 1/2 W 244 poles to a line known as the compromise line to three beeches and Indian tree on the east bank of Middle Fork River: thence up the said Middle Fork River about 180 poles to a spruce pine: thence S 58 1/2 E 164 poles to a thorn Indian tree on top of a high knob, on said Shifletts line: thence with his line N 31 1/2 E 146 poles to the beginning, containing one hundred and seventy acres more or less. A lien is hereby retained upon the above conveyed tract of land to secure the payment of the above money. Witness the following signatures and seals the day and year of the lord first above written.

Absalom and Mary Shiflett to The Board of Education of Middle Fork District
22 Feb 1884
This Deed, made this 22 day of Febraury in the year 1883 between Absalom Shiflett and Mary Shiflett his wife of the first part, and The Board of Education of Middle fork, District of the second part , Witnesseth That for and in consideration fo Free Gift the said part of the first part do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said part of the second part, the following described property to wit, One half acres of land situate in the District of Middle fork County of Randolph and State of West Virgina and bounded as follows: Beginning ------ with pointers of A. Shifletts and E. Huttons line on the East side of the Left hand Fork of Middle fork River N 32 E 9 p. to a Spruce N 66 W 10 p. to the River. Sothward(sic) with the River to A. Shifletts and E. Hutton's line, thence S 58 E 10 p. to the beginning containing one half acre, To have and to hold the said tract of land unto the said part of the first part, heirs and assigns forever. And the same part of the first part covenant to and with the part of the second part, that they will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed.

Absalom Shiflett whose name is also signed to the writing aforesaid . . .acknowledge the same to be her act and deed . . .Given under my hand this 27 day of Sept. 1884.

January 21, 1891
This deed made this 21st day of January 1891 between Frances Fisher, widow of Henry Fisher deceased of the first part and Manassas Shifflett and Nannie J. Shifflett his wife of the second part, John H. Fisher and Ellen his wife of the third part, Michael N. Moore and Elizabeth F. his wife of the forth part, Joseph R. Fisher of the fitfth part, Clinton R. Fisher of the sixth part, Charles F. Fisher of the seventh part and Lineus Brown and Catherine Brown of the eighth part and William B. Fisher and Nannie J. Fisher ninth part all heirs fo Henry Fisher deceased. Whereas the said Henry Fisher deceased and departed his life on the 29th day of January in the eyar of 1890 leaving no will and at his death held in fee several lots of land aggregating about 132 acres, and whereas the heirs of said Fisher are mutually desirous to have partition of the said real estate so that each of them may hold in severally their respective shares to which each is entitled and for that purpose all the parties interested mutually agreed as W.F. Sheets had been selected to act as attorney to take charge and to settle up for the said estate by an article of agreement entered unto by said heirs bearing date of Feb. 1890. they also agreed for him to act as such in the partition of the real estate and wereas by agreement the said land has been divided and partitioned between the said parties. To Frances Fisher is allotted No. 1 as her Douer including the house, barn and containing 20 acres being part of the 62 acre tract adjoining the lands of Stauger and others and bounded as follows; Beginning at a white oak stump on a ridge N.W. of the house corner Hauger thence with same north 64 1/4 east 61 poles to a stone pile on the southern slope of a ridge corner to Stauger north 45 1/2 east 27 1/5 poles to a stone pile on side of hill corner to lot No. 4 on Stauger line and with No. 4 south 30 east 40 1/2 poles passing a corner No. 5 & 4 to a stone corner to No. 5 and 2 and with No. 2 south 64 west 86 1/2 poles crossing a branch to a stone corner on lot No. 2 on W. Koiners line, thence with the same north 32 1/2 west 36 poles to the beginnning.
LOT NO. 2 containing 16 acres - 1 rod - 12 poles was assigned to Manassas Shifflett and his wife Nannie J. Shifflett adjoining the Douer and others and bounded as follows; beginning at stone on the west side of Still house branch on W.F. Koiner line and corner to lot No. 1 thence with the same north 64 1/2 east 86 poles to a stake in the timber corner to the Douer and others and to lot NO. 4 and with the same south 7 1/2 east 34 2/5 poles to a stake corner to lots No. 4 on a line of NO. 3 and No. 3 56 west 73 2/3 poles corossing still house branch to a stone east of the road on W.F. Koiner's line thence with the same north 32 1/2 west 33 poles and 8 links to the beginning.
[Lots No. 3 through 8 are assigned to the remaining heirs.]
