Camp Sill, Tennessee

Dear Wife I take my pen in hand to let you no that I am well at this time and hope when you git this letter hit will find you and the children all well. I received your letter a few minets ago and was mity glad to her from you all that you was doing well for hit is moore than I can say. I got Fanny's ring. I will keep hit tell I come home when I git pade off if I can git off ennyway at all for I want to come home the worst in the world but we ar alooking for a nother big fight in a few days. Our Divishion has bin askirmishing for four days and our Regiment had to go on picket ever other day. We hav to go on to morrow. You must excuse this letter for hit is dark and I hante got nothing to right but I right ever weeke and I want you to right to me ever weeke for hit dos me a heepe a good to her from you and the children but hit wood dow me a heepe moore good to see you all for I no that I want to see you the worst in the world and I dow hope hit wonte be long tell I see you all. I was to see George Secorts today and he is well and harty but he is like me wants to be at home. I think the hole army is tired of hit so as soon as I git pade I will send you some money if I cant get to home and bring hit to you. I will hav to close my letter so god bless you and the children.
