Dear wife, I again take the opportunity to wright you a few lines to let you no that I am still well at this time and do hope when you git these few lines tha will find you and the children all well. I recev your letter a few minets ago and was glad to her that you was all well. I had jest started a letter to you about two hours before I got yourn with two dollars in hit. I wooda sent more but I was aferd that hit wood be like the rest not git ther. If hit gits to you safe I will send a little in ever letter I right. You give me the devil for not writin to you. I will let you no that I wright you two letters ever week of my life but I donte git one ever three weeks. And about the money I thout I had told you about hit but you dont seem to be satisfide about hit. I will from this out send an start hit a little at a time as long as I hav got or can git enny and if hit gits to you well be glad of hit and if the rebbles gits hit like tha got the other hit will hav to go. I cant help hit. You sed that I wodent send no letter by Jack Hatfield. I can tell you the reson that I dident, I wanted him to take the childrens likenesses back to you and he wodent take them and took some for the other boy and hit made me mad and I cust him a little about hit and I wanted him to take my overcoat and he wodent do that so I thout he mite go to hell, he shodent take nothing and I was mad ennyhow for I thout I had as much rite to a furlow as he did. The reson I wanted him to take the likenesses was becaus I had no plase to keepe them. You sed that Lafe Cobley and dun sent so much money to thare wives. Maby tha did. I no whar hit come from but say nothing about hit. Maby I will git home some times and I can tell a good deal about one thing and another. You sed you was going to put Fanny out. I donte want to her that nomore. If you do put her out, keepe hit toyourself and donte let me no hit for I donte want to her such nuse as that. I think that I can send enuf money to keepe her at home tell I git thear if I ever do and I hope I will but I think tha is some safe but I will hav to go through a battle and a big one two and that maby before tomorrow night for we ar looking ever minet for hit. We hav bin pact up reddy to march ever sence yesterday noon expect to march ever minet. You sed you was going to Kentucky. I think if you go you had better take the children with you for this way going and leeve them I donte like. If you wasent to git back tha wood be in a awful fix me gon and you gon for the rebbles takes the trane from Covington to Lexington ever once and while so if you go take the hole thing. If I ever live to git to Ohio I wonte stay two weeks for I wonte stay in no such a abalishiness county as hit is for all or half of the state is negro werpishers ___ the rear and git others to do the fighting for them. I hante got no stamps to put on this letter So I will close my letter.
